The Scouting program is financially supported by families, businesses, and communities. The financial support the Council enables and ensures that Scouting programs and resources are available to the Scouts and Scouters.
There are three significant ways that you can financially support the Scouting Program
- Participate and give in the annual Friends of Scouting (FOS) campaign.
- Have your unit participate in the annual Trail's End popcorn sale. This fundraiser helps the unit and the council.
- Become a member of the James E. West Fellowship or the Centennial Commission.
Family Friends of Scouting (FOS)
Your support is vital to the success of the Scouting program. It is only through the Family Friends of Scouting campaign that we can continue to provide on-going support to our Scouting units. Friends of Scouting helps pay for camperships, training, program materials, roundtable, membership support and much, much more.
The Family Friends of Scouting campaign reaches out to unit families for their financial support of the council in providing programs for Scouts. A unit presentation is made by a volunteer "trailblazer" to show how FOS has an impact on the Scouting program and asks for your support.
Trail's End Popcorn Sales
Not only do the Scout and his Unit benefit from these sales, but, the Northern Star Council also generates operating revenue. Some units have become so successful with the popcorn sales that the sales are the only fundraiser they do.
Popcorn sales are held in both the fall and the spring. Units may participate in one or both sales.
There’s a new and easy way to help support Northern Star Council while you browse the web. It doesn’t require special software or equipment and there’s no catch. All you have to do is make GoodSearch.com your new search engine of choice!
